2021 SUMMER CAMP REVIEW
They are more in touch with nature and like teaching what they learned at home. They are more adventurous, and were inspired to do different things they were not used to.
Introduction
Our campers will engage with nature, art programming and learn wellness practices through our daily gratitude circle, art and mindfulness activities, reflection time and team building games.
Have fun during the school break! Building on our Epic Summer arts and Wellness Camps, Our School Vacation (Spring Break) Arts & Wellness Camp is designed to introduce children ages 6-12 to different art forms inside the studios and outside in nature exploring the winter landscape, creek and trails for inspiration and opportunities to discover new materials from nature in winter!
Participants will learn how to use various mediums inside and outside, and decide on several projects to complete throughout the session both individually and as a group inside and outside the studios.
The School Vacation (Spring break) Arts & Wellness Camp is fun and educational as we explore another season at Soulspace and the Sage Street Mill! Students will leave with a renewed sense of community, connect with friends, and leave with a strong foundation in fun arts and wellness practices!
Campers will have daily activities and projects. The camp introduces students to drawing and painting, storybook making, making site-specific work in nature, and multi-media art through hands-on project-based learning, and nature exploration along our trails and outdoor space.
Campers can only choose to participate in full-time enrollment.

Quilter of 6 years. Using natural plant based fibers and up-cycled fabrics in my work, as well as hand dyeing many materials using the plants around us. In this workshop we’ll be bringing quilt inspired blocks to life with textile art! Using assorted fabrics on paper with glue, we’ll have a look at different fabric types, few simple and very old quilt patterns, types of stitching and how these things can make for a very different quilt in the end. We’ll have a look at first steps, and talk about a few of my favorite quilting styles -Using up-cycled fabrics and clothing examples to get ideas on fun eco friendly scrap quilts for the future.

An artist working in many mediums, most recently printmaking, painting, and storytelling. Nature and the magic of what we find there is the backbone of much of my work. In my exploration with the kids, we will be looking for patterns in nature and interpreting what they find through the process of printmaking.
Ahmad Yassir
(he/him)
I am passionate about many things including visual arts and education, and I love to share my passion for learning, creativity, and team building! I'm an experienced international teacher (Lebanon, Turkey, Somaliland, USA) and artist. My most recent work was featured in the Transient Beauty Show at The Bennington Museum.
I am so honored and excited to lead this year's camps, meet more families from the area, make new connections, and further develop the program as we learn more about each camper! Full portfolio.
Peggy Florin and Peter Smith
(She/her) and (he/him)
It's been forty years since Peggy Florin and Peter Smith were co-members of the Cumeezi Bozo Ensemble, a NewYork City-based clown troupe. They have since happily reunited at The Mill to form their own ensemble, PePe, where they are currently re-discovering the art, craft, and joy of clowning. Peter has been at Buxton School in Williamstown since 1984, where teaching acting and directing plays have been two of the many hats he has worn there. Peggy has been busy teaching dance, embodied anatomy and the Alexander Technique at Bennington College (1989-2009) and at Bard College (1998-2021).

I'm a student in the 6th-grade class at the North Bennington school, I enjoy spending time with kids and experimenting with art, and developing my creativity. I have attended the Sage Street Mill camp in the past couple of years, and had a great experience!
I'm excited to learn about printmaking and spend time with the kids. I'm also very excited to be a part of the group activities and arts and crafts projects that the kids participate in and choose to do. I can’t wait to be part of the team of facilitators to make sure the kids have a good time and a lot of fun.
